This Memorial Day weekend we are thankful for our veterans and for the freedoms their sacrifice has afforded us. One of those being our freedom of religion. Faith is important to our family, and we are blessed to be surrounded by family and friends that share the same values. This weekend we formally introduced Tyge to our Catholic church!
His godmother Julie (Danny's sister) and his Ava helped to get him dressed. While Weston was more concerned with other things....
Tyge with his godparents, Julie and David (Danny's brother).
Our parish is pretty small, and Father Fred does an excellent job of making everyone feel welcome. The whole mass was special, as he invited us to join the procession in and out of church, and also referenced Tyge during his homily in the middle of Mass.

David, Traci, Matthew and Tyge.
Our happy family (couldn't leave out Flo, could we!).
Welcome to the blog about the life and times of Weston, Tyge and Dani. Where you can follow the in's and out's of the cutest kids you'll ever lay eyes on (in my not so humble opinion).

Hard at work.
Weston is quite the helper....even when you aren't sure you really need the assistance. I was attempting to pressure wash the back patio, he thought the truck was a more appropriate target. He then moved on to the gravel driveway, where he soon found out that wasn't such a good idea.We decided to wind down before dinner with a walk, but someone didn't have enough energy to make it back home. I didn't realize I had a double stroller.Maybe the walk was too much, or I just took too long to finish getting dinner on the table. Amazing how kids can sleep anywhere.
Six months old
Can't believe it's already been half a year since we became a family of four. Today Tyge had his check-up, and I am thankful to report that he continues to be a healthy boy. He was 21 pounds, 7 ounces at today's weigh-in, and he is 28 inches long. He is also starting to sit up on his own for longer periods of time. Although he's not crawling yet, he is completely mobile....scooting around everywhere.
I'm trying to be a good mom and post as much about him as I did with our first little man. Luckily I have Weston to help....he took the following picture. I was shocked that it was actually in focus and blog worthy!

Nice weather!
We have really been enjoying some good weather the last couple of days, and what better way to do it than going for a bike ride. Tyge got to try out the trailer for the first time and seems to be pretty content with being pulled along. Weston on the other hand can't decide how he would like to travel.
Should he drive himself on the tractor (and hope the battery doesn't die so Mom doesn't have to carry it back)?
Should he ride along with Tyge?
Or how about just run? When Weston decided he wanted out of the trailer and wanted to walk home, I didn't really care. However, as I was trying to slowly ride along behind/next to him, I was kinda feeling like one of those mean trainers, you know, the ones who makes their clients go for a run, while they drive next to them eating a doughnut and screaming mean things.

Wordless Wednesday
Our friend Ellen started a weekly tradition called "Wordless Wednesday". Because I often can't think of new ideas myself, I'm going to be a copy cat. So, in future weeks, and it may not be every week, we'll have "Wordless Wednesday" posts. Feel free to leave a comment with your on thoughts about the picture(s) posted.
For our first "Wordless Wednesday":
And if you haven't checked out Ellen's blog Life on a Real California Dairy Farm, please do....it's great!

Summer days are coming....
How do I know that summer is just around the corner....corn on the cob! Today it was on sale at the grocery store and it was too tempting to pass it up. For being early in the year, it was really good.Last night the neighbor girls came over for a couple of hours. Weston is IN LOVE with both Madison and Stephanie, so anytime they get together is a good time. But I also had a wonderful evening. I got lots of yard work done while the girls paraded the boys around. I think I'll volunteer to watch them for a couple of hours every Friday.Weston has never really been attached to anything....toys are great, but everything gets put back into their storage bins at the end of the day. Today he told me he was going to take a nap. He doesn't usually volunteer to do this, so a few minutes later I checked in on him and found that he and his pal Woody were snuggled in to bed. He also mentioned that Woody had to take his hat off for his nap. Tonight at bedtime he had to bring both Woody and Buzz....one on each side. Wonder how long it will last?

May days
The sunshine is finally bringing us outdoors more, and all of us are loving it. Weston has a new favorite pastime, now that he has finally figured out how to put his foot on the gas pedal and steer all at one time. Now when I go for a walk down the road, Weston drives.Tyge is getting better about eating new foods, and loves mashed bananas. We moved him into the high chair, of which he is a big fan.
So I know you are never supposed to walk away from a baby on a changing table, but I did. I was expecting a phone call, and when I ran to answer it, I came back to this. In what seems like a split second, Weston stripped all his clothes off and decided that Tyge needed some diaper rash cream.
Last night I found myself wondering why it is that I can't remember what I did two days ago, but I can remember that I have a similar picture of Weston, standing with his dad in front of the recliner.

Weekend Fun
Last Sunday we took advantage of the beautiful weather and headed up to the State fairgrounds to attend Oregon AgFest. For those of you who haven't ever heard of the event, it's basically a giant farm day, with lots of hands on activities. The best part is that it's free for kids, we adults pay just a small entrance fee.
Weston really enjoyed looking at all the farm equipment outside and getting a ride from the tractor over to the livestock area. Typical of Weston, when we got to where all the animals were, he wasn't the least bit interested in the horses, sheep, llamas, etc. All he wanted was to go talk to and pet the cows....the Holstein's were of course "Avo's cows" and all the other ones were "Daddy's cows".
Tyge hung out in the stroller most of the day, just enjoying the sunshine. Weston got to dig for potatoes, milk a cow, and plant and take home a pumpkin start. Interested in the story behind this picture.......well, an FFA group had five pedal tractors set up and kids could race each other, three laps around on a roped off circle track! Weston saw what was going on, and although I knew I would end up pushing him since he wouldn't pedal himself (we're almost there), we got in line. He waited really patiently, watching two other groups go ahead of him. Soon it was his turn, and he was head of the line so he would get first pick at the color tractor he wanted. The FFA member told him, "ok, go pick out your tractor" and what did he do....bee lined it, right past all the pedal tractors and straight to the big tractor on display in the middle. Unfortunately we left with him kicking and screaming since he wasn't allowed to take the big tractor for a drive. But at least everyone, including ourselves, got a good laugh.
Today we didn't have as good of weather. Although drizzly, we spent this Saturday afternoon in our little town of Brownsville for the annual "Carriage Me Back" event. In the four years we have lived here we have never taken the tour to learn what our town was like 100 years ago. So we bought our tickets at the museum, hoped on the stagecoach and got a quick history lesson. Along the way there were stops with towns folk telling us of what they were up to; two women who were lobbying for the right to vote, a few men headed to work at the woolen mill. Our stop ended at the Moyer House, where we learned about the problems of the "rich folk" in town....such as some local politics and their concern that their kids can't get their waltz steps perfectly. Unfortunately I forgot my camera, so I had to steal some pictures from the city website!
