The "I'm Tired" Edition

Ok, I'll admit it. The kid wears me out. Lately I have been asking myself "how in the world will I handle two of them?".

Weston has always been a climber, but this week he has taken his skills to a whole new level. No longer are we just climbing on chairs, but we are now pushing chairs over to other places where we shouldn't be....like on top of the desk banging on the computer. Or how about climbing on top of the toilet in order to get on the counter to play with the faucet. Yesterday, after taking a brief potty break myself, I walked in on him sitting on top of his dresser in order to see out the window and likely retrieve a pacifier (note - he is sitting in the box where they are usually kept).
Speaking of pacifiers, or "shoshas" (spelling?) as we call them at our house. Tonight he discovered that his mouth is big enough for two of them. At some point we will have to get rid of them, but when should that be? I mean, they make him smile. When he gets cranky at the end of the day it is so nice to say "here you go, have a shosha"...and he trots away, happy as can be.

Recently he discovered that a trip to Walmart with Daddy is a good thing. We just stopped in to get light bulbs and milk, but we ended up with a shiny new tricycle. Seeing Danny come walking up, pushing a shopping cart, with a tricycle in the basket and a kid sitting on top of that new trike...do I have to say that it was both hilarious and adorable. Someone out there needs to figure out how to put trikes on shopping carts so I can do all my shopping with a really happy kid....those giant plastic cars on the front of the carts that my grocery store has are horrid. Have you tried navigating thru a store with one of those massive things?

Finally today we had our first real taste of summer. Weston approves of the warm weather, and all that goes with it.

Birthday BBQ

Saturday afternoon we headed to the lake to celebrate Christy's 30th Birthday. Her son Jeremiah and Weston are buddies, but suddenly Wes didn't like the idea of J sharing "his dog". Wes kept telling him "no", and repeatedly would take his hand off of Flo.

Soon the two were digging holes and chasing each other around.

Hannah and her salamander.

Weston must have ran up and down this ramp twenty times. Needless to say he slept really well that night.

Wes also got his first ride on Bill's boat. Just a short and slow one, from the dock to the boat ramp. He did not like the rocking when we first got in, but once we moved a little he was fine. By the time the boat was on the trailer he was trying to drive it himself.

Strawberry Festival

Friday night we headed to the Lebanon Strawberry Festival...where we ate corn dogs and elephant ears, but no strawberries. Weston thought his corn dog was pretty good, devoured the entire thing as if he was eating corn on the cob. He as able to pick out some ducks from a pool, something he thought was very fun. It was hard to get him away until we showed him that he could pick out a prize.
And what was the grand prize? A mini rubber ducky. He held it the entire way home and the first thing he did once we got in the house was give it to Flo. The rubber ducky has replaced her ball for the last couple of days, and surprisingly she hasn't torn it to shreds.

The only "ride" Wes got to go on was the slide. Couldn't tell if he was smiling on the way down, but he had a big smile when we were done.

Silly boy.

Toga, toga, toga!
Where's Weston? His new favorite game. Buries himself in stuffed animals, pillows, under blankets.

Cracker box head. Thanks Daddy.

Still my outside boy.

Riding on tractors, playing in the grass, running thru puddles and feeding the cows....who could ask for more?
