Nine months old

Ok, so I'm about a week late in posting, but we have recently celebrated Tyge's nine month birthday. The vital stats are as follows: 23 pounds, 14 ounces and 29 inches tall. For comparison to Weston at the same age, he is just slightly heavier. He's in great health, is a speed racer when it comes to crawling and loves to babble lots of different noises (whenever he doesn't have that dang sousha in his mouth).

The days of giving him a bath in the kitchen sink will soon be over.
Like his brother, Tyge is a great eater. Prefers to have whatever we are eating over a jar of baby food, which is really nice. Even better is when he can feed it to himself. But sometimes eating dinner is tough, and it wears him out!
And of course, like siblings do, he want's to have whatever his brother has.....including a grilled cheese sandwich in this case. For the most part Weston is patient, and I have been telling him to come get me rather than push Tyge away....but it's a constant struggle. Ahhhhh....the joys of parenting.

Montana Trip

One of the great things about summer is trips to Montana. This year's vacation was a bit short, arriving on a Thursday and having to leave on Monday morning, but I did take plenty of pictures while we were there.....over 300 total. Here are a few of the favorites, hoping they provide a good overview of the trip!

Picture #1 - Both really happy to be out of the truck!!
Teaching Weston how to use his new Spiderman fishing pole (gift from Grandma of course!).

Weston and cousin Tymber checking out the ranger.

Tyge and cousin Jana.

Hunter, Logan and Weston eating smores and Great Grandma Barnes helping Weston assemble what may have been his third or fourth one.

At Lively's....yes, a baby in the bar.....reminds me of a post from two years ago.

ATV ride up to Hecla on Saturday.

Baby in the bar again....had to spread out our patronage and introduce Tyge to The Hitching Post.

Reading Grandma's magazines.

A much needed break....for Tyge and Grandma.

Hanging out with Uncle Chad and Aunt Jennifer.

Wish I would have snapped a picture of Weston's face when he walked into Uncle Ray's game room and saw the bear he got last year. All I heard was a big "wow".

Playing with Aunt Ruthie's new pup.

Starting our trek back home....first stop was in Missoula for some breakfast.

Dinner stop was at Spooky's in The Dalles. Weston was more interested in the arcade games so he ate his pizza once we were back in the truck.

Wordless Wednesday

Now that I am finally caught up on all my posting....time for Wordless Wednesday!

BBQ'n

If you read my last post, you saw that we made a quick trip down to California. One of the reasons we had to hurry back was so we could cater a dinner on Saturday afternoon. Yes, you read right, Danny and I are now in the catering business!?!?

Each spring Oregon Women for Agriculture holds their annual auction and dinner. They were looking for some donations for the live auction, so in addition to some other things we contributed to the silent auction I agreed to donate a tri-tip dinner for 30 people. We couldn't attend the auction this year (Jennifer and Chad's wedding was the same day), so I was a little concerned about it, not knowing who purchased it, but hearing it went for good money. A couple weeks back I got a phone call and we set the date and time. The deal is, we provide the food (our menu was tri-tip, pork loin, beans, potato casserole, taco salad and watermelon), and the buyer provides the drinks and location.

So Saturday we followed the directions and headed to the gazebo on the lake at Al & Dixie Sullivan's tree farm. It was a gorgeous location, surrounded by timber with a gorgeous view of the mountains to the east, as you look past "Al's Golden Pond....aka The Money Pit!". Al and Dixie were great hosts, and since Al said he doesn't trust a sober cook, he made sure we were supplied with plenty of adult beverages. We ended up knowing a couple of their guests, and after dinner Al took a group of us girls out on the patio boat for a ride, and then took Danny and I around the ranch on the Polaris.

Wish I would have taken the camera out more that day....just got two pictures of the handsome grill master.
I'm not sure who got the better deal, us or OWA....we had a great time and made great new friends. Danny enjoyed himself so much he seems to think a catering business is in our future.

Another quick trip

Seems like every time we head south it's for too little amount of time. We took advantage of some really cheap flights to visit family for a few days. It was such a whirlwind of a trip, I barely broke out the camera. I did catch a few of Weston at the dairy.Tyge was given a piece of a chocolate doughnut!!

Aunt Jennifer's new puppy Abby, along with Chico, trying to get Weston's ice cream cone.Walking down the lane to the feedlot (and my favorite picture).

Summer days

After a very strange, mild summer, we are finally getting some warm days. I got out the Mickey pool that I purchased for a few bucks at the end of last summer, and Weston started playing in the water. The excitement of the pool wore off quickly, and he moved to the sprinkler, which I had going in the front yard. You may notice that something else is missing also....he had to go potty and trying to put a wet swimsuit back on a 2 1/2 year old isn't easy. In fact, I gave up. But really, don't all kids run in the sprinklers naked at some point??

County Fair

I've come to the conclusion, that going to the County Fair isn't the same when you don't have any animals of your own in the barn, or don't know at least half of the other exhibitors. It's an entirely different experience when your attendance is more about partaking in the carnival games than fitting cows. Either way, we wanted to take the kids down to check it out. We started in the kiddie area, where Weston was too freaked out to pet any animals in the petting zoo, but Tyge didn't hesitate. The first building we went in offered turkeys, ducks, rabbits and a special reptile exhibit. After a walk through the barns (where Weston was only interested in seeing the cows...didn't want anything to do with the pigs, sheep, etc.), we headed out to the carnival. He was a little aprehensive at first, I mean, who wouldn't be with all the lights, loud noises and weirdo's walking around. We did convince him to play two games: fishing and darts. Both of which he enjoyed. He even hit two balloons with one dart, on the first throw. Ten dollars and one stuffed snake later we had a very happy boy. We visisted another building, where Weston got to play around with blocks, plastic sprockets and marbles, among other things. I had to take the ever important picture of Tyge in his stroller, but changed it up this time...in front of the skinny mirror (mom liked this mirror also). Finally it got to be dinner time. This was a problem for me. You see, when you are an exhibitor, and at the fair for five days, you get to enjoy ALL of the different fair foods. Tacos on day one, corn dog on day two, chicken on a stick day three, and so on. When you are only there for a few hours, you have to make a tough decision....and we decided on the traditional corn dog. Unfortunately I was disappointed...either they don't make them as good as they used to, or I'm getting old. We were headed towards the exit gate and Weston saw a booth with all kinds of toys for sale. He pleaded that he wanted the light gun, and so Danny told him he would buy it if he ate his entire corn dog (not thinking that would actually happen). I've never seen a kid eat so fast!!

Party at the Park

Weston's good buddy Jeremiah turned 3 and we were invited down to the park to help celebrate. Although the birthday boy was excited, as usual, Weston cried when everyone sang "Happy Birthday". I still haven't figured that one out....especially since he'll sing it to himself when you are driving down the road.

Opening gifts and playing changed his mood quickly, and we all had lots of fun.
