Bull sale

A couple of Saturday's ago we took the boys to their first bull sale at Rock'n D Ranch.  Both of them really enjoyed the day....Weston spent most of his time trying to figure out which animals had "tomatoes" and which ones had "utters".  Tyge sat through the entire sale, perfectly content watching the bulls go through and helping Heather write down the prices.

They actually had such a good time that neither one of them wanted to leave and Danny had to carry them out....both kicking and screaming.

February....and March.

Haven't posted in a while, so here are some things that the boys have been doing.

Weston taught Tyge to stick out his tongue.
Cookie monsters....now I have two helpers in the kitchen.

While we were on vacation, Weston and Tyge split their time between staying with their Grandma and their Ava.  One of them taught Weston that when you go through a drive-thru you get a toy with your meal.  I learned this recently when we pulled up to A&W and Weston immediately asked what kind of toy he was getting.  So I broke down and purchased their version of the Happy Meal (I used to get away with buying a box of chicken strips and they could share my fries).  I don't know what concerns me more....that Weston now associates fast food with toys, or that fast food restaurants are now giving out shot glasses as toys.

We've been out working cows.....Weston didn't want his picture taken and Tyge wouldn't take his eyes off off the heifer in the chute.

They also got to tag along when we took the bulls to OSU Vet school to get semen tested.  Weston was really impressed by the goat with the bandaid on it's neck.

They share the kids table now.  Tyge is finally big enough to sit with his brother....playing with play dough or easting breakfast!

Last Saturday we had a nice sunny day so we headed down to our local park.  Tyge soon figured out how to go down to the slide....head first of course.

After all the playing, some days they both prefer to take their naps in "mommies bed".

Work or play?

Some days I really love my job.  Today was one of them.  I needed to go over to Tillamook to do a "Field Review", basically drive by a property and some sales that another appraiser used to make sure their work was acceptable.  I was hoping to fit the trip into an appraisal that I was doing in that area but it didn't work out, so I was stuck having to make a two and a half hour trip for about 15 minutes worth of property viewing.

Then it occurred to me....take advantage of the opportunity and make it a family day.  And that is what we did.  Danny had to do a repair at a local dairy early in the morning, so we picked him up from there around 9am and made the trip over to the coast.

First stop was the air museum.  Weston preferred the helicopters, while Tyge kept going outside of the blimp hanger to see the biggest ones.

The both got a kick out of "flying" the jets.
Next we headed north to Manzanita to view the properties I needed to look at, but in no time at all we were back in town and stopped for lunch at TCCA.  After getting our squeekers and ice cream, the boys climbed in the van and make some deliveries.  Our last stop was at Blue Heron, so the boys could play outside some more and I could purchase some of their blue cheese salad dressing for Grandma...hoping she'll take that as payment for watching the boys next week while we are in Vegas!

Did I say it already.....I love my job!

The official portraits.

In early December we had pictures of the boys taken for their 1st and 3rd birthdays.  Our friend Andy Vaughn did an amazing job....and it was his first time taking on photographing kids.  Of course the boys didn't cooperate enough to have their picture taken together, but that's the way it goes with a one and athree year old.  Here are a few of the favorites!

Catching up.....again!

Wow, over a month since I last posted....I'm not getting better at keeping this blog updated, I'm getting worse!

Let's start off with boys being boys....at one of their favorite spots in the house, and hard at work making a patchwork carpet of blankets.

With Christmas right around the corner we had lots to do, including making gifts.  Weston decorated plates and cups for grandparents and godparents, and had lots of helping mix cement and place mosaics on a frog stepping stone for "D".  We even tried our hand at making a gingerbread house, but I won't show you how pathetic it looked when we were finished.

On Christmas Eve we had lots of friends over for crab cioppino....yummy!  Tyge spent most of the evening checking out Blake, our newest neighbor (about two months old at the time).  On Christmas morning I surprised myself at being the first one up, and had the monkey bread in the oven for breakfast before anyone else was awake.  Weston was his usual grouchy self (he is not a morning person....wonder where he gets that from?) until he noticed all the presents under the tree.

Tyge mostly watched Weston unwrap everything, but he seemed just as excited with the end result.  The rest of the morning and afternoon was spent putting together train track and playing "farmers".
We headed down to the neighbors for Christmas dinner...the boys were both ready to call it a day by the time we got home.
After the holidays, things got back to normal....if there is such thing.  Weston and Tyge have a morning ritual of sitting in their chairs, watching Curious George and drinking their milk in the mornings.  Later that morning Weston got in trouble and I sent him to his room.  I went in to get him only to find that he decided to play Chutes and Ladders in his bed.  Weston also loves watching movies on "his DVD player" rather than on the big TV.  Tyge has been running around since about the week after Christmas....deciding that walking is faster than crawling.  He also eats anything....and usually in much larger quantities than what Weston eats!

In mid January we had a couple of snow days....Weston screamed "mom, it's snowing like at Grandma's house!".

The other day Weston went to Sears with his dad and came home with his very own welding hood and torch....told me he was "fixing his bed".  He teaches Tyge all kinds of things too, like how to make car noises and drive them along the edge of the bathtub.  And here's yet another picture of them, back in their favorite spot, looking out the window!

Catch up

One trip to California, Thanksgiving, two birthdays, a visit to Santa, decorating the Christmas tree........so much to post and so little time to do it!  It's been a few weeks since I last posted anything, and a lot has gone on.  Here's as brief as I could get in a single blog post.

First we headed down to California for a whole week.  Weston got to help on the dairy, and Flo was really happy to get to hang out there all week too.  I especially like the picture of Weston bringing Danny a breeding glove, while dragging it through the muck the entire way.
Grandma and Grandpa were also visiting from Montana, so the boys got to spend lots of time at their California house.

We got to spend some time with the Machado Family, and our god daughter Lucy.  Newt got a hold of my camera and I have a zillion pictures of people standing in front of their fish tank....had to post at least one of them.
Then came Thanksgiving.  We spent most of the day with the Weststeyn side of the family.  This year it was held at Jay and Linda's new home, which was perfect for all the kiddos.  Weston had a ball hanging out with his cousin Evie.  It was a little drizzly all day and by the end of the night they were all covered in mud.

This year Tyge's birthday fell on Thanksgiving day.  We had an official birthday party the following evening, complete with Pizza Plus pizza (we can't find great pizza like that in Oregon).  Tyge and Kash had a ball playing with his new gift, a ride-on CAT truck.  The end of the night concluded with three little boys all in one bath tub.

On the way down and on the way back home we split the drive into two days so I could look at some properties I am appraising near the CA/OR border.  Weston wasn't too crazy about staying in a hotel tat first night, kept telling me he wanted "my bed" or "I go to Avo's house".  On the way back home he settled in pretty quickly.  Nothing says road trip like feeding two kids fast food on the floor and sleeping in a dresser drawer.

Finally back home, that next week we went to visit Santa Claus in downtown Brownsville, part of their "Home for the Holiday's" celebration which is targeted at getting people to shop locally.  Weston walked in, saw Santa and headed to the corner of the room where he saw his friend Evelyn playing with some toys.  Tyge was interested though, and after a few minutes he crawled right up on Santa's lap.  After a while Weston decided he could go too, and took my hand to walk over.  I put him on Santa's lap and he proceeded to tell him that we wanted a train.  I put Tyge back up there for a picture of them together, but at that point he had had enough.  Later that evening Weston helped with the finishing touches on our tree.

Weston's Birthday.  The day after our Santa adventure we celebrated Weston's birthday, having a few of our close friends over to eat Sopas (Portuguese beef and cabbage with bread) and lego cake.  Weston thought the day was great, loved his presents and has been playing with his Thomas the Train lego set ever since.  Although he still says that Santa is bringing him more trains.
Lastly, a few more pictures of the boys and the Christmas tree....in matching Christmas jammies from Aunt Tami.
Let's hope I don't wait as long as I did last time to do my next post.....it's too much work to sort through so many pictures at once!!!
