Where's Weston?
There he is (and yes, he was in the first picture too). He started following Dad out to check cows and lost his way in the tall grass.Fixing up some things around the barn. Tyge is new to riding in the wagon, but he loves it. Nice cause I can buckle him in and tote him around the yard while we do things.

Busy days.

The start of summer seems to coincide with lots of things to do. This weekend was the start of what I think will be a non-stop whirlwind of weekend activities. So far we have something on the calendar for nearly every weekend from now til Labor Day. This Saturday started with Gunner's 4th Birthday Celebration down at the park. Weston was thrilled at Gunner's choice of theme and the party favors(he wanted to wear the hat to bed). We then headed over to Bill and Christy's house. Daddy was already there helping to lay sod in their backyard. Weston, Jeremiah and Tyge had fun playing in the dirt, on the new grass and with the hose.
Mom and Tyge made a side-trip to a deliver a garden basket to a friend who just purchased a new house, and then we headed home for some dinner. Corn on the cob, ribs and strawberry pie out on the patio...Summer food is so yummy!Weston then got to play with his new bubble gun, a souvenir that Jeremiah brought back for him from their Disneyland trip. Notice, hours later, Thomas the Train party hat is still within sight.
We topped of the evening finishing planting the garden. All you California people reading this are likely laughing, since you are likely in the middle of your first harvest! Don't make fun of us, we do the best we can here in Oregon! Weston was careful to put the beans in the right spot, and figured out how to cool himself down afterwards.

Wordless Wednesday #2

Mock Camping

This weekend, our friends Tricia and Brian did a close-to-home, weekend camping trip. Somewhat new to using a camp trailer, (borrowed from a friend), it was sort of a preview, or trial run, in preparation for a week long excursion they will soon be taking across multiple states. I work with Tricia, but we live over an hour away from each other, so we don't get our families together as often as we might otherwise like to. Lucky for us they decided to go to an RV park close to our home and we were invited over for dinner. So we packed a couple of lawn chairs, a fruit salad and Weston's bike to join them for a few hours. I'd like to think taking the boys for an evening, was a also a preview, or trial run, for our weekend camping trip coming up in just a few weeks. Overall Weston, Grace and Allison played pretty well together, although there were a couple of fights over dolls and strollers (something totally new and exciting for Weston). Thank you Chastain Family for inviting us!

Firetruck! Helicopter!

This weekend there are two words that got repeated over, and over, and over again (see above).

Each year Brownsville Rural Fire Department holds an open house, inviting the community to the fire station to check out their equipment and enjoy free hot dog lunch. I figured Weston would have a good time, but I had no idea just how much. The great part about the open house is that they allow the kids to crawl all over everything....not much was off limits! Weston got to drive the firetruck, ambulance and rescue pickup. He liked the old fire engine the best, probably because he got to ring the bell as he drove along. We arrived just in time to see the Medi-Flight helicopter land, and stayed long enough to see it take off too. Weston is still wearing his fire hat and badge around everywhere (and was pretty disappointed when we made him leave the hat in the truck during church today). Thank you Brownsville Volunteer Fire Department for hosting a great event and for the incredible work you all do!

Tyge's Baptism

This Memorial Day weekend we are thankful for our veterans and for the freedoms their sacrifice has afforded us. One of those being our freedom of religion. Faith is important to our family, and we are blessed to be surrounded by family and friends that share the same values. This weekend we formally introduced Tyge to our Catholic church!

Our parish is pretty small, and Father Fred does an excellent job of making everyone feel welcome. The whole mass was special, as he invited us to join the procession in and out of church, and also referenced Tyge during his homily in the middle of Mass.

Hard at work.

Weston is quite the helper....even when you aren't sure you really need the assistance. I was attempting to pressure wash the back patio, he thought the truck was a more appropriate target.He then moved on to the gravel driveway, where he soon found out that wasn't such a good idea.We decided to wind down before dinner with a walk, but someone didn't have enough energy to make it back home. I didn't realize I had a double stroller.Maybe the walk was too much, or I just took too long to finish getting dinner on the table. Amazing how kids can sleep anywhere.
