If you read my last post, you saw that we made a quick trip down to California. One of the reasons we had to hurry back was so we could cater a dinner on Saturday afternoon. Yes, you read right, Danny and I are now in the catering business!?!?
Each spring Oregon Women for Agriculture holds their annual auction and dinner. They were looking for some donations for the live auction, so in addition to some other things we contributed to the silent auction I agreed to donate a tri-tip dinner for 30 people. We couldn't attend the auction this year (Jennifer and Chad's wedding was the same day), so I was a little concerned about it, not knowing who purchased it, but hearing it went for good money. A couple weeks back I got a phone call and we set the date and time. The deal is, we provide the food (our menu was tri-tip, pork loin, beans, potato casserole, taco salad and watermelon), and the buyer provides the drinks and location.
So Saturday we followed the directions and headed to the gazebo on the lake at Al & Dixie Sullivan's tree farm. It was a gorgeous location, surrounded by timber with a gorgeous view of the mountains to the east, as you look past "Al's Golden Pond....aka The Money Pit!". Al and Dixie were great hosts, and since Al said he doesn't trust a sober cook, he made sure we were supplied with plenty of adult beverages. We ended up knowing a couple of their guests, and after dinner Al took a group of us girls out on the patio boat for a ride, and then took Danny and I around the ranch on the Polaris.
Wish I would have taken the camera out more that day....just got two pictures of the handsome grill master.
I'm not sure who got the better deal, us or OWA....we had a great time and made great new friends. Danny enjoyed himself so much he seems to think a catering business is in our future.
