Crabbing

Last Saturday Bill & Christie invited us out on the boat to do a little crabbing.  Danny had lots of work to do and decided to stay home with Tyge, so Weston and I took on the adventure by ourselves.  Except for a really short boat ride last summer, this was Weston's first time out.  Good thing we had veterans Jeremiah and Hannah with us!

We went to Waldport, where the crabs are usually nice and big.  Weston thought "downstairs" was pretty cool, and hung out here for the first part of our trip.

It took some convincing, but after a while Weston sat up on the front of the boat with me.....what he started calling "upstairs".

 Making faces....
Hannah helping to pull up one of the the crab pots.
Weston and Jay helping inspect the catch.
Weston helping Bill pull up a crab pot.
 Jay and Christie.
Inspecting a throw back before it went back in the water.
At the end of the day we finally got Weston to touch a crab, but just barely....with the tip of his finger for less than a second.  He did help me throw back some, pushing my hand as I held it over the water.  Overall he did great for his first trip, and we hope there will be many more to come!

What we're working on around here....

Everyday brings some sort of new skill for the boys. Some of the new and often repeated things they have learned include:

Roping.....usually mommy is the target, but I'm trying to convince him it's more fun to rope his bouncy horse.Opening and closing cupboards....Tyge can do this for hours.Fixing things. Whenever you say something like "screwdriver", "hammer" or "wrench", Weston grabs one of his own tools. He often works on his toys too, as seen here, changing a tire.

Oregon State Fair

Laboring on Labor Day? Not around our house. Instead we decided to go to the State Fair with our friends Bill and Christy and their kiddos Jeremiah and Hannah. Many dollars and four hours later we had covered just about everything the fair had to offer. Highlights include:

Jay and Hannah playing in air bubbles....Weston was too nervous to try.Mr. Joe Cool's with their new shades.
Lunch consisting of corn dogs (and rice crackers for Tyge).
Thirsty kids....it was one of the hottest days we had all summer.
And when a sippy cup just doesn't cut it....go for the snow cone!Watching the Jersey show and talking to the goats.

All the boys have to get in on the conversation.....
Playing dress up....Weston totally uninterested in this one too!
And a few games to finish off the day.
